Heartland Institute's NIPCC Report, peer reviewed?


What to make of the new Heartland Institute's NIPCC Report?  
They say a thousand pages of "peer-reviewed" science?

What they don't tell you is that their "peer-review" is done within the vacuum chamber of their own political advocacy "think-tanks" and has nothing to do with the greater community of scientists.  You know, the peers who are actually going out there to collect and process the data.  

 There are hundreds, thousands of active full time professional scientists and support staff out there cross-checking each other's work, arguing over details and consistently trying to perform their various crafts as close to perfection as the real world allows.  

 Those that want to learn about what the active scientific community has to say, you must go to the IPCC report itself, not a cheap misrepresentation.

This Heartland Institute NIPCC report is the production of a clique' put together by a few super-rich and is it not interested in understanding the actual science.  It's intent is to out-scream the IPCC 2013 Assessment Report that's due to be released tomorrow.  

 Heartland Institute is all about attempting to keep people ignorant of plain inescapable down to Earth physics that is impacting all of us.


And yes, it does all revolve around CO2 and other greenhouse gases we humans are adding to the atmosphere above and beyond the historic back-ground levels.  Understanding this reality is essential before we can hope to constructively confront an increasingly insecure future.

Background
The Heartland Institute is a Chicago-based free market think tank and 501(c)(3) charity that has been at the forefront of denying the scientific evidence for man-made climate change. The Heartland Institute has received at least $676,500 from ExxonMobil since 1998 but no longer discloses its funding sources.

Who is Heartland Institute?

The Heartland Institute is a stock-issue conservative/libertarian "think tank" based in Chicago and founded by Joseph L. Bast. It has ties to Richard Mellon Scaife, Exxon, and Philip Morris (the usual suspects). 
Heartland concentrates especially on "free market environmentalism," which is Newspeak for denialism. "Smoker's rights" is one of their favorite issues, which comes as no surprise as a Philip Morris executive once sat on their board of directors. They have consistently denied the link between second-hand smoke and cancer. 
They are also a front of global warming denial, publishing "research" by notorious deniers Anthony Watts and S. Fred Singer. No surprise, once again, that an Exxon exec once sat on their board as well. 
Besides anti-environmentalism, they also advocate "school choice" and "reform" (i.e. union busting), lowertaxes, and health care "reform" (i.e., total privatization).
The banner on their home page displays, along with libertarian ideologues like Ayn Rand (who underwentsurgery for lung cancer) and Ludwig von Mises, a number of historical figures including Crispus Attucks (first man killed in the Boston Massacre), Benjamin Franklin, Booker T. Washington, John Locke, Thomas Paine, and Thomas Jefferson. No doubt they are rolling in their graves.

See what I mean?  This is a political advocacy group, it has nothing to do science or the pursuit of constructive knowledge, it's all about political theater for these guys, so why would anyone trust them with explaining important serious science issues they despise and want ignored?

Scientists will this week issue their starkest warning yet about the mounting dangers of global warming. In a report to be handed to political leaders in Stockholm on Monday, they will say that the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation have now led to a warming of the entire globe, including land surfaces, oceans and the atmosphere.
Extreme weather events, including heatwaves and storms, have increased in many regions while ice sheets are dwindling at an alarming rate. In addition, sea levels are rising while the oceans are being acidified – a development that could see the planet's coral reefs disappearing before the end of the century.
Writing in the Observer ahead of the report's release, the economist and climate change expert Lord Stern calls on governments to end their dithering about fossil fuels and start working to create a global low-carbon economy to curtail global warming. Governments, he states, must decide what "kind of world we want to present to our children and grandchildren".
The fifth assessment report on the physical science of climate change by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) warns that humanity is on course over the next few decades to raise global temperatures by more than 2C compared with pre-industrial levels. ...

IPCC report on climate change to be released today

NEW DELHI: The much awaited summary report of the United Nation's body on climate change will be released in Stockholm on Friday, answering a number of questions on the state of 'global warming' which will help policymakers across the world chart out their course of action before arriving at a new climate deal in Paris in 2015.
